This earth toned, desert inspired nursery couldn’t be cuter… and neither could baby girl Stevie James. The little nugget has a room all to herself full of beautiful decor, yes, but even more-so with warmth and love. The joy she brings to her parents is evident in the way they look at her. We hope that joy carries through the photographs to you and not only puts a smile on your face, but maybe leaves you with a few ideas for your own baby’s room. Enjoy!

It was so fun putting together Stevie’s nursery, I am really into simple, minimalist design with small pops of color. The colors that were used in her nursery were all inspired by the picture above the dresser that was taken in Joshua Tree by CJ’s sister. She took that photo close to 2 years ago and I have always been obsessed with it. So, when thinking of a “theme” for Stevie’s room that photo really led the way for everything. It was important to add personal touches into her room and make it a place that I would also enjoy spending time in, since I knew I would be in there A LOT. Ha!
Stevie James middle name is so special to us because she was named after my cousin Brandon James who passed away April of 2018. Me & my husband had been trying to get pregnant for close to a year when we finally found out that we had conceived and our due date was going to be April 2019. We knew he had a little hand in it, so we decided right then boy or girl the middle name was going to be James after Brandon. There were several things leading up to her birth that made the connection to Brandon very real, and she even ended up being born on Brandon’s first born’s birthday, April 25th. Every time we saw Brandon he was wearing black & white converse (I really can’t think of another time I saw him wearing any other shoes—he even wore converse when he got married). So, the baby converse in Stevie’s room next to her custom wood sign with her name on it is a special way for us to remember him.
At my baby shower, instead of doing a traditional guest book, my best friends had baby blocks for my family & friends to write personal messages to Stevie on, which is so special to us since most of our family & friends are not local. Now, it feels like she is always surrounded by them and reminded of how loved she is.
All in all, adding personal touches but keeping it simple, makes me feel comforted and relaxed when I am in her nursery. I am a big fan of the desert and I loved being able to incorporate that in a way that wasn’t overdone while at the same time keeping everything very neutral and feminine.
