The fuss about organic biodynamic wine is real, y’all. Goodbye rude additives, goodbye excess sugar, goodbye hangovers—yes, really. We’ve jumped on the train and although we’ll still indulge in some of our other favorite bottles every now and then, we are transitioning to better-for-you brands from organic vineyards for the majority of our wine nights. No one likes to spend $$$ on varietals they don’t know if they will actually like, so we’ve done the taste testing for you (you’re welcome ;)). Now, everyone’s palette is unique, but in our opinion, these are some of the best no-added-sugar, organic, or biodynamic wines on the market. Find a brand you love and stick with it, shop from a company that carries a variety of smaller brands if you like testing out new ones, or try them all.
Scout & Cellar
Clean-crafted wines with cool labels? Count us in. Scout & Cellar prides itself on providing chemical-free, additive-free wine, which provides a more natural, altogether better-tasting wine. If you’re curious just what goes into mass-produced bottles and what’s not included in their wines, this page offers a ton of useful info. Did you know the average bottle of wine has 16 grams of added sugar? Well, Scout & Cellar has none. Plus, they’re all about the experience, and so are we, so we love that they host tasting events where you can sip through their current offerings to get a feel for what you like before you buy.
Thrive Market
If you aren’t familiar with Thrive Market, the organic online grocer is home to all of our favorite good-for-you brands for less, and now wines! They carry an assortment of organic, biodynamic, or sustainably farmed wines that are hand selected by a master sommelier, so you know they’re not only high quality but also delicious. Get entertaining ready by springing for all the charcuterie & cheese board essentials too! They have all your non-refrigerated necessities including crackers, olives, salami, nuts, jam, and honey for the makings of a delicious grazing board. Bonterra
Growing wine organically and sustainably is at the forefront of the Bonterra brand. And they do so beautifully. They are committed to transparency so you can trust you are getting the highest quality with every wine. With notes of strawberry, key lime, and pineapple, their rosé is our new fave. If you’re looking for something more full-bodied, their Merlot boasts notes of black plumb, carob, and raspberries. However, it’s the cans we can’t get enough of! Can you picture an easier way to sip your wine this summer than Sauvignon Blanc out of a can?!
FitVine
For light and refreshing wines you’ll want to sip all summer long, reach for FitVine’s rosé, sauvignon blanc, or chardonnay. These refreshing varietals are bright and *almost* too easy to drink. But you won’t feel guilty if you have an extra glass or two, because they have less than .1 grams of sugar (yes, that’s point 1) and 3 grams of carbs. But you can rest easy knowing they are also free of pesticides, molds or arsenic, including glyphosate. The brand stems from a love for fitness and wine, and the truth that you can have both. Hear! Hear! All this at a great affordable price to boot.
Dry Farm Wines
Dry Farm Wines is a wine club that delivers a constantly rotating assortment of the purest wines. They curate natural wines from small, sustainable family farms and test every wine to meet strict bio certifications such as organic/biodynamic, low sulfites, and no commercial additives. Since they are always sourcing brand new wines from artisan makers, you get to enjoy a unique variety from all over the world. Every bottle is low alcohol, sugar-free, and clean so you can be sure you’re sipping on the highest caliber with the lowest side-effects.
