Nothing could dampen Karen and Chi’s spirits on their wedding day, not even a hurricane. That’s right, Hurricane Willa caused a bit of a bump in the road by deciding to show up the weekend of their destination wedding in Puerto Vallarta. But this bride and groom kept their focus on each other and quickly adapted to plan B. With most of their decor packed in their suitcases and all of their family with them at the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta, the venue switch was seamless and their special day went off without a hitch, aside from a little rain. They also had a fun day-after photoshoot where they donned traditional tea ceremony clothes and took portraits on the beach. Their newlywed glow radiates through the photos!
Jenn and Derek of Flora + Fauna captured all of the beautiful events, saying…
Karen and Chi live in Toronto, Canada. It gets a little chilly up there in the fall, so they decided to opt for a destination wedding in Mexico as an escape for their friends and family from the cold. Karen and Chi were married in Mexico at Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta. Originally, these two planned to get married on a private island, Las Caletas, off the shores of Puerto Vallarta. We were so excited about taking an off shore boat ride to Las Caletas to capture their wedding day. Unfortunately, Hurricane Willa had other plans for Karen and Chi… With a category five storm approaching Puerto Vallarta’s coast, the Mexican government closed all of the ports, which left everyone stranded back at the hotel. Karen and Chi were total troopers when they had to replan their wedding in under twenty four hours. Truly, I’ve never seen anyone handle so much stress with so much grace.
