The main inspiration for this pink, 80s themed bridal shower? True love, no duh! Or should we say, Tru love? As designer, Kate Mellow of Bloom and Blueprint, says “When the groom’s name is Tru, a ‘Tru love’ theme is just what the doctor ordered for a bridal shower!” We’re suckers for a good pun and couldn’t agree more – the “Truly in Love” refreshment wall sends us over the edge! Totally Righteous. But that’s not the only fun element of this bright bridal shower. Between the splatter painted heart balloons to the heart shaped sunnies on every place setting, radical is the best way to describe this 80s themed bridal shower. Word.
Kate continues, With Tru Love as the theme, I went with simplistic heart shapes as the inspiration and threw 80’s all over it. It featured heart sunglasses, neon shades, and a custom backdrop featuring none other than Truly beverages for everyone to enjoy. The palette was matte pink, teal, and lavender and the event was pun after pun – and really really fun!
The floral design was architectural and without greens. Ombre pinks were accented with funky feathers and tons of texture. Tabletop vibes featured matte pink plates, gold glam flatware, and heart shaped plastic cups from none other than Amazon! I designed it this way so that it was achievable, because not everyone has access to a fully curated rental place setting for each guest. Additionally, the plates are from Ikea and the flatware was rented.
As a design company we decided a backdrop was in order and we also needed to service drinks… Truly was the perfect choice (and came donated from a Sam Adams rep). We collaborated with Dang Fine Rentals in town to build out this unique display that was the centerpiece of the event design. Instead of creating a vat of cocktails, or opening wine or champagne throughout the event, Truly was an easy choice that is well received amongst most people! We used a Cricut to cut the vinyl and branded the wall accordingly, Truly in Love.
We chose to give out plastic heart shades as the parting gift. Plastic shades scream 80’s to us and these were a hit (and also cute props for photos)! Again, we used a Cricuit to cut the vinyl that said: I see Tru Love. We also used pre cut glass available from Home Depot to display this sign (super easy and cheap!).
Who doesn’t love a good dessert display? Baker Katie from Sift Bakehouse AZ outdid herself with color blocked cakes, stamped cookies, and heart shaped lollies. We grabbed some ostrich feather clips from Michaels and added them to the cakes. Then, we spray painted clear heart balloons and laid them across the back of the table. We tried to paint the outside of the balloons at first and had one burst right in our faces, so we pivoted and painted the insides… Pinterest fail?! Haha.
