If you’re anything like us you’re definitely craving a winter weekend getaway, especially around this time in January when the new year starts to kick in and catch up. Luckily for you, we know of just the place to hit pause and relax. Breckenridge, Colorado offers endless experiences from the slopes to the shops, and an unforgettable atmosphere that gives you all the warm and fuzzy feels. Read on to find out where to eat, play, and stay in our travel guide to Breckenridge.
Where to Stay:
One Ski Hill Place, A RockResort: You don’t know luxury until you stay at this ski-in/ski-out resort. How can it get any better than being just steps away from five different chairlifts? If you’re not into hitting the powder, there’s also direct access to restaurants, bars, and locally owned shops. However, it’s not outside the resort that makes it incredible, it’s inside. With a two-lane bowling alley, multiple movie lounges, and a Rejuvenation Center spa, you’ll be hoping to get snowed in.
Where to Dine:
Breckenridge Distillery Restaurant: There’s nothing that makes you feel at home quite like big family style meals! That’s what makes this dining experience special. The menu offers unique plates and handcrafted cocktails from their in-house Liquid Chef, Billie Keithley. Not only do they serve entrees meant to be shared, but they also specialize in small plates such as dates covered in mascarpone, honey, and salt. Our favorite must-order? The campanelle pasta with walnut sauce, lemon, and parmesan. Yeah, we’ll definitely break the resolutions for that one!
Park & Main: The Rocky Mountains sure have a way of making you crave a warm, classic breakfast. Pancakes, waffles, smoked salmon benedict, yogurt parfaits, and scrambled egg bruschetta are just a few of the things on the breakfast menu at Park & Main! The staff is friendly and the environment is simple and inviting. Be sure to fuel up here before exploring Breck for the day.
What to Do:
Ski! If you’re heading to Breckenridge during the winter, hitting the slopes is a must. Especially when you stay at One Ski Hill Place, since the resort is right at the bottom of Peak 8. Enjoy incredible views while you get your adrenaline fix on the mountain.
Hit the spa: A day full of cozy robes and luxurious treatments always sounds nice but especially in the wintertime. After a day skiing or snowboarding, nothing is better than a massage! The altitude bumming you out? Try the Acclimatization Package at One Ski Hill Place, which includes an oxygen bar that offers rotating flavors of oxygen available in 15-minute sessions. In addition to helping guests better acclimate to the altitude, the pick-me-up sessions can alleviate headaches, increase energy and more. The package is built for two and also includes essentials like sunscreen, reusable water bottles and upgrades.
Other favorite activities include snowmobiling, ice-skating, or hiking and golf during the summer!
