The team shares…
When planning this shoot we envisioned a vibrantly elegant, intimate gathering hosted by a bride and groom at their home after their surprise engagement. We used a vivid, tropical color scheme as well as one-of-a-kind pieces of repurposed art to evoke the exotically beautiful islands around the world that have been part of their romance, especially in the Caribbean, the Seychelles, and Hawaii.
The white coral pieces seen throughout were gathered on the northern shore of Kauai, the “Garden Isle” of Hawaii. The bright turquoise vintage silk ribbon we styled the paper with was purchased from a vendor in India, and was made from sari remnants.
The various tropical hues of the watercolor paper suite from Wedding Paper Divas are reflected in the cake we chose for our couple. When the confection’s bright exterior was cut, a pale interior was revealed and the guests enjoyed a toasted coconut cake with lemon and lime curd and vanilla buttercream frosting. The yellow of the RSVP card was echoed in the hammered gold glass for their signature cocktail, a coconut blood orange margarita. We also used pops of gold in the vase for a lush and grassy arrangement topping the bar cart. The other unique accessory for the cart is a salvaged architectural element from India, about a century old, repurposed as sculpture. We loved that something one of a kind and steeped in history and culture could now become part if this couple’s story.
The colors are so bright and beautiful!
Love this decor!
