7 Wedding Trends that Will Never Go Out of Style

Some trends come and go but these are the wedding trends that will never go out of style – for good reason! We tapped wedding professionals to share what they feel are timeless trends. By hearing them, we hope they will not deter you from making your wedding personal and adding your own flair but help you choose timeless options as well.

Paper Stationery

First things first – how do you invite your guests? HoneyFitz Events says, “A physical paper invitation suite” will never go out of style.

When it comes to the style of paper invitations, Erica Henriksen of Bella Figura says, “Invitations with strong typography and few frills have been trending for the past few years, and with good reason: motifs and even certain color palettes can date a design style, but classic fonts will always be in style.” Kristy Rice of Momental Designs echos that sentiment saying, “monogram black tie wedding stationery is timeless.”

To help you achieve the look, Erica Henriksen of Smock says, “Classic script fonts are one of our favorite timeless wedding trends – choose a good, strong script and you’ll love your invitations for years to come! To achieve a more timeless look, stick with more traditional styles –trendy or whimsical fonts may feel dated as time goes by.”

Neutral Color Palette

We can often cringe at popular wedding colors of the 80s and 90s. Tyler Speier of Tyler Speier Events says you can’t go wrong with neutrals! “Using lots of neutrals in the color palette not only creates a beautiful, romantic event, but is a timeless style as well!”

Lace

Who doesn’t love lace wedding gowns? “A lovely lace wedding dress never goes out of style,” says Shannon Dexter of All You Need Is Love Events. We couldn’t agree more!

Classic Black Tuxes

When in doubt, you can’t go wrong with “classic black tuxes for the groom and his groomsmen,” says Kari Dirksen of Feathered Arrow Events. But don’t stop there! Another classic touch for the groomsmen is a cigar bar. Amy Santos of Elizabeth Birdsong Photography says, “Celebrating with a cigar is timeless. Guys love a cigar bar! Even having a small set for you and your groomsmen can be a great tradition to hold.”

Statement Florals

Amy Burke of Amy Burke Designs says, “Elegant statement centerpieces and ceremony structures will always leave a timeless impact.” And in terms of bouquets Lisa Costin of A Charming Fête says, “A gorgeous lush bouquet full of the prettiest blooms” is the way to go.

A First Dance

If you’re thinking about skipping out on the first dance, think again! Danielle Aspromatis of d’Luxe Events says, “The first dance as husband and wife is the most important dance as a couple. Surrounded by your loved ones, a first dance is exactly how a timeless wedding should always be kicked off.”

But don’t stop there! Bob Gail Music encourages you to keep the party going, saying, “Make an epic dance party your main priority. At the end of the evening, guests walk away with a timeless memory of a truly fun experience!”

Dessert

Last but not least, wedding desserts can nowadays be a time where couples buck tradition, but make sure you consider these tips first. Valarie Falvey of Kirkbrides Wedding Planning & Design says, “Dessert Tables are a great option. Everyone loves to eat at weddings! So, offering up a variety of sweets for guests to pick from is very popular and we don’t see this trend going away anytime soon!”

But don’t leave out the cake! “As much as I love treat tables, having an actual wedding cake for the bride & groom to cut will never be something you regret!” says Susan Chappelear of Susie Marie Photography.

What do YOU think makes a wedding timeless?

  1. Yes for something for the couple to cut into and share! It is such a sweet moment; sharing a plate. It doesn’t have to be cake. It doesn’t even have to be dessert! Feed each other bacon for all I care.
