For this San Diego family, an ocean & surf inspired nursery was only fitting. For their baby boy on the way, photographers and now parents, Jess & Nick Rice, created this awesome, calming, and cool bedroom. They filled it with fun signs & wall hangings, crisp white & gray furniture, and some of their own photographs. With accents in wood and gold, it’s a room we can totally (brah) get on (surf)board with! 😉
Jess says, When we found out we were pregnant my husband started shaping a surfboard for our baby. He spent months carving, shaving and painting the board that would eventually announce that our baby was a little boy. This surfboard now hangs on the wall of our cozy San Diego beach apartment as the centerpiece to his nursery.
I’ve always been inspired by the hues of the ocean so when it came to designing a nursery for our little Lincoln I couldn’t resist creating a calm and fun oasis. I wanted to fill his space with beautiful photos we captured, being professional photographers, and with little details that would captivate him.
I had a photo of a crashing wave we took on our babymoon blown up on a canvas to hang over the pottery barn changing table accompanied by a vintage surf poster and a walrus head. When it came to choosing a mobile I knew I wanted something modern and the gold geometric mobile from Target was the perfect style to compliment the pops of color throughout.
So cute for a surfer baby

Where can I get that rhino stuffed toy?
Where is the shark print from your last picture from? It would be perfect for my son’s bathroom!
