Once you’re on your third child, you’ve probably already experienced the typical baby shower full of baby pink or blue color, silly games, and a popular nursery rhyme or animal theme. This couple decided to take a different path to celebrate their baby boy on the way. So, planner, Ooh la la Weddings, and florist, Melissa at Miss Meliss Floral Design, chose a sophisticated theme and venue for the jade blue baby shower. The courtyard of the L.A. restaurant served as the perfect venue, both elegant and whimsical. The team gave it the all star baby shower treatment with fawn decor, a decadent dessert bar, and lots of greenery and peonies. And boy! Did it turn out fabulous!
Melissa shares, The inspiration for this baby shower came from a photo of a fawn the planner and I saw. Katie and Adam didn’t want the typical baby shower feel. So, we tried to think outside the box with a lot of things. From the food (an upscale brunch) to the kids area, Katie and Adam wanted an outdoor patio gathering with friends and family.
This is Katie and Adam’s 3rd baby and they were finally having a baby boy! So, we wanted to keep to the traditional boy color -blue. We ended up choosing a yummy velvet jade linens and darker yet muted teal colors with wooden accents and touches of taupe and white.
We chose the The Little Door restaurant because it felt like a hidden paradise in Los Angeles. As you enter through the rustic wooden doors, it feels like a secret hideaway unfolding in front of you, leaving the urban world far behind. Resplendent with bougainvilleas, ferns, and other exotic lush foliage, the patio is a true secret garden. It also holds a tiled fountain and Koi pond and the sunlight gently shines through the leaves of the open skylight. The shower was held in the romantic courtyard, perfect for the Saturday brunch.
