Feeding your kids can be a stressful experience! Picky eaters, time-intensive meal prep, and expensive gadgets (most likely purchased out of desperation)… we get it! We’ve been there (and are still there with some of our kiddos). So we’ve rounded up some of our favorite products and brands that have made meal time a little easier for us. Whether you’re a new mom or a veteran mom, take a look at our must have products for feeding babies and kids and let us know what you’d add! And if you’re an expecting mom, we hope these tips help!
Baby Brezza One Step Baby Food Maker
If you’re planning on making your own baby food, this is a MUST. And if you’re not planning to, or not sure about making your own food, this product will likely change your mind. The process is simple – roughly chop fruits and veggies, put them in the glass bowl and viola! In 30 minutes or less you’ll have steamed or pureed baby food in which you know exactly what the ingredients are your baby is eating. Bonus: it’s easy to clean as both the bowl and the blade are dishwasher safe!
Goodie Pouches and Freezing Trays
For the first few months of offering solids, your baby isn’t likely going to be eating all that much. During this time he/she is learning about the taste and texture of food and getting used to swallowing more solid materials. Which means if you choose to make your own food, chances are it’ll go bad in the fridge before your little one can eat it all. When searching for a solution to this we came across these silicon trays that allow you to easily freeze and store homemade baby food. They also carry re-usable pouches so once your baby gets the hang of the whole eating-solid-foods thing you can fill these up with tasty fruit and veggie combos.
It’s inevitable, food WILL end up on the floor as your baby eats. Now whether it’s accidental or intentional is an entirely different issue! However, if you just love mopping as much as we do then this leather chair mat is just what you need. It easily wipes up after meal time so you aren’t. And their color options warm our neutral-loving hearts.
If you’ve ever seen a baby learning to feed themselves with a spoon, then you know the meaning of a cringe-worthy moment. The moms behind Kizingo knew there had to be a better way and developed spoons ergonomically designed so littles learn the art of using a spoon.
This is more for toddlers during mealtime, but we love it so much we had to include it! When your toddler outgrows their highchair trying to keep them seated in a regular dining chair is near impossible. The Bumbo seat is the perfect transition – it’s designed so toddlers can comfortably join the “adults” table. It’s also easy to clean, which is a meal-time gadget must.
Veteran moms know that right around the time that it’s important for your baby to start receiving more of their nutrition from solid foods is when the pickiness begins to set in. You spend so much time perfectly cutting their food into the perfect size only to have it end up on the floor, in their hair, smashed between their fingers.. Anywhere but in their mouths. Enter another superhero mom who decided there had to be a better way and created Funbites, the fun-shaped “cookie cutter” for food. You can use it on anything from banana pancakes, to sweet potatoes and sandwiches. It saves time for moms no longer having to individually cut up food, and the blade molds cut food into fun shapes enticing even the pickiest of eaters.
Being a baby and trying to feed yourself is hard. Not that we remember from personal experience, but we’ve first handedly experienced the frustration some babies experience while trying to master this skill. We came across Num Num GOOtensils at ABC Kids Expo and let us tell you, they are the perfect pre-spoon utensil. Your little one will start to get the hang of feeding themselves without the frustration of not actually getting food in their mouth thanks to the flat design. Once your baby masters this they’ll be able to more successfully transition to spoons!
