Cue the Gilmore Girl marathons, spiced hot apple cider and the quest to step on crunchy leaves. Fall is upon us and we couldn’t be happier about it! While Los Angeles is an amazing city to live in – we don’t always get the fall perks other cities around the country provide. Which led us to creating the ultimate list of places to visit this fall! We’re talking cooler temps, fall foliage, apple cider donuts and beer fests! Between the Autumn incentives of dissipated crowds and lower hotel rates, you won’t be able to resist a plane ticket to one of these MUST-VISIT cities!

Breckenridge, Colorado
First of all, Breckenridge! Located 90 minutes from Denver, this picturesque town is more than just a ski town. With its various film, beer and art festivals and glowing mountain foliage you’ll be in a fall-filled heaven. They also host the largest Oktoberfest street party in the Rocky Mountains!

Napa, California
The beauty of Napa is that the wineries are open year round and if you’re looking for the full winemaking experience, the fall harvest is the best time to visit! You’ll even get your fix of all those pretty leaves, as Napa is one of the few places in California that sees the most dramatic color change. Also, Napa’s annual Bike Wine Tour may be the coolest fall activities on the West Coast… Can it get any better than spending a weekend cycling through the vineyards?
Salem, Massachusetts
This historic, seaside town will have you visiting for the leaves and staying for the frights. During the month of October, autumn colors frame the centuries-old homes and spooky attractions like tombstone tours, medium-led séances and ghost stories performed inside the 17-century mansion of the judge who presided over the witch trials. In other words, head here for an authentic spook!

Nantucket, Massachusetts
Many consider this preppy beach town strictly a summer hotspot. But actually, fall, and especially October, is one of the best times to visit – especially after Labor Day as rates significantly lower in price. The visitors thin out during this time and the water is still warm, which makes it a perfect time to visit popular restaurants and take a leisurely swim in the Atlantic.
Willamette Valley, Oregon
Known as the New England of the West, this scenic area will provide you with plenty of foliage sightings of covered bridges, quaint country schools, churches and barns. Not to mention, this lush valley is known for its Pinot Noir! So between its colorful scenery and tasting rooms, you’ll never want to leave.

Bonner, Montana
For an intimate, ‘glamping’ experience, you’ll definitely want to check out Montana – specifically the Resort at Paws Up. This luxurious resort is the epitome of rustic elegance as it sits on a sprawling 37,000-acre ranch. You’ll literally ‘fall’ in love with the warm days and cool, crisp nights at this serene and peaceful outdoor escape.

New York City, New York
Take a dreamy stroll underneath the changing leaves in Central Park, or catch a new Broadway show premiere during the beautiful fall NYC months. Make sure you carve out plenty of time to experience all the fun-filled activities. A couple of our favorites include tasting seasonal beers at Brooklyn Brewery and hitting up the New York City Wine and Food Festival.
Santa Barbara, California
For the Californians looking for somewhat of a staycation, Santa Barbara is ideal. Known to many as the American Riviera, Santa Barbara is great during the fall months as hotel prices plummet and June gloom dissipates. Let the Mediterranean-style architecture and nearby Santa Ynez Valley wineries transport you to its French cousin.

Stowe, Vermont
Lastly, Stowe, Vermont. A cozy and charming town covered in bright golden hues of orange treetops is our idea of fall heaven. This enchanting Vermont town captures just that with its crisp air, sugar maple tree-lined streets and fall festivities! This town is also home to the Trapp Family Lodge (the family that inspired The Sound of Music) and Oktoberfest, in which the whole town is transformed into a Bavarian village. Finally, don’t forget to stop for apple cider donuts before you leave!
Now check these cities and activities off of your fall bucket list ASAP!
