We knew Park City was renowned for it’s outdoor activities and Olympic legacy, but on a recent stay at the Stein Eriksen Lodge we were able to experience so much more of this beautiful mountain town. The lodge was in the Deer Valley Village which was the perfect location to access the mountains and the historic downtown area. Here’s how to spend your weekend in the beautiful Park City area:
Where to Stay:
We already mentioned the Stein Eriksen Lodge, but we have to give this 5-star resort the mention it deserves! It was absolutely picturesque and the rooms were divine. Although we didn’t ski at the dubbed “World’s Best Ski Resort,” (we visited in late spring) we can attest that it’s the perfect lodging if you’re planning to hit the slopes or if you just want to relax and enjoy the city.
What to Do:
Hit Historic Main Street. The Main Street is walkable from Stein Lodge and ideal for strolling on a beautiful day. Browse the boutiques and art galleries along Main Street and be sure and stop into one of the many restaurants along your walk for an appetizer & drinks or a meal.
Visit Olympic Park. Paying a visit to the park where the Olympics were held back in 2002 was such a fun & unique experience. We were able to witness the bobsled team practicing and the ski team practicing their jumps into the pool and I don’t think I’ve seen anything quite like it! It’s a *must do* while in town.
Outdoor Activities. The list of adventures available in Park City never ends. From mountain biking and horseback riding in the warmer months to skiing and snowboarding in the winter, there’s never a shortage of physical activities and things to do here. We packed our weekend full of fun including a fun ride on the zipline, but a hot air balloon ride is at the top of our list when we return!
Relax. After the activities of the day have wound down, there’s nothing better than a good book and a jacuzzi. With a hot tub right there on our room’s deck (yes!!), we could sit and enjoy the gorgeous scenery from the comfort of our own room at Stein Eriksen Lodge. If you’re looking for even more relaxation, the Lodge’s spa is also incredible!
Where to Eat:
We started each day with breakfast at Glitretind Restaurant at Stein Lodge and are still raving about it! Omelets and cappuccinos on repeat. YUM. Aside from the food, it’s also right at the base of the ski lift so the views while we were there were incredible.
Thanks to the hotel’s recommendation, we stopped at the High West Whiskey Distillery for a tour and loved every second. Of course, you should feel obliged to try out the delicious whiskey, but be sure to order a charcuterie board as well!
