This basement living room makeover turned an unused space into the ideal haven for Brittany, of Brita Photo, and her husband. In good taste, they took a neutral color palette and an idea for an ‘adults only’ area where they could relax (Psst. see where their kiddos hang out here!), and went from there. We love the warm and cozy feels, and the exquisitely designed bar that makes you just want to pour a glass and take it all in.
Brittany shares, This is our second home in Atlanta, Georgia and we’ve really enjoyed decorating each room. It’s a slow process, but it’s all coming together as our family grows. We were inspired to create an adult-only space where my husband and I could spend time together, while our kids are asleep. Whether they were napping or sleeping for the night, we didn’t want to worry about being too loud and waking up any babies. When I was pregnant with our second baby, we were more motivated than ever to complete this project.
With warm custom-made cabinetry and open shelves, we incorporated a contrasting (but, complementing) glossy, off-white backsplash for the bar. We added a mini-fridge (stocked!) and a small bar sink to add function, but not take away from the design of what we envisioned for the bar. Our style is clean, simple and neutral and we didn’t want to add any distracting details or lines. The rest of the living space is decorated around the bar area with a focus on our black and white travel photography. Our goal was to keep it comfortable, inviting and warm; a place where we could relax, play games, and watch movies.
I adore that wooden accent wall!
