The new year is upon us, so what better time to talk about what you’re about to see all over weddings in 2016! We talked to the pros – planners, florists, bridal salons – to get the trends that have started to show up, and are about to be a lot more common, at weddings. Without further ado, here are the predictions:

Non-traditional Dessert – While the cutting of the cake is a classic wedding reception tradition, dessert bars and single serving sweets are becoming a popular catering choice. Whether it be mini pies in three flavors, a waffle cone bar, or a cake made entirely of macarons, small bites are a fun option that every bride, groom, and guest will love! But don’t fret. If you still want to capture that classic “cutting of the cake” photo, there’s always room to add a small cutting cake to your dessert menu. – Couture Events

Metallics – As couples are leaning towards a more personal style and more towards what they already love in their own home, we’re seeing a trend towards using metallic’s in wedding colors. From stationary to jewelry to wedding cakes, metallic’s feel glamorous and chic. – All You Need Is Love Events

Color, color, color! I predict couples will be bolder in their use of vibrant colors. – Color Pop Events

Sophisticated V-Necks – Wide open v-necks have been widely seen on the runways for 2016. This is a stunning shape – enhancing the feminine collarbone, narrowing a broad shoulder, and slimming the figure as the eye travels in to the waistline, while remaining refined and not too revealing. We love seeing v-necks with narrow straps as well as sleeves; designers appear to be incorporating it into every possible silhouette making this a no-brainer, and graceful, update. – Celia Grace

Colorful Boho Trend – Airy outdoor look with bright colors interspersed throughout. Rustic & soft details like harvest tables and dreamcatchers. Lots of texture with pops of color. White features offset with bold florals and colorful accents. – Sash & Bow

I think the trend will be moody with lace. Dark and light contrasts in flowers and color schemes. Think chiaroscuro. – Bries Honeybees & Flowers
