Joshua Tree not only provided a secluded, beautiful location for this intimate ceremony, but also a perfect canvas for the southwestern theme. The desert vibes continued from the surrounding cacti covered mountains, to the primary colored vintage rugs & rentals, to the taco menu. Our personal favorite moment happens to align with the bride & groom’s – when they repeated their vows to each other with their friends and family surrounding them, literally, in a tight-knit, incredible, circle. How could you ever forget that?!
The bride shares, We wanted something simple, casual, and colorful- like us. We didn’t like the idea of our wedding as a performance for people to watch, just going through the steps like a checklist. We wanted to do what we actually enjoyed, not what we were told we should do just for the sake of tradition. We decided dancing was our number one priority (after our vows, of course), and we wanted to avoid making our guests wait a long time for anything. We worked around those two ideas and based everything else off of our top desires.
Our venue in San Diego fell through after we already set a date, so we started looking on AirBnB for houses to rent for a backyard wedding and absolutely loved everything we saw in Joshua Tree. So we took our engagement pictures there with Westlund Photography to test the waters. Within 5 minutes of walking around Rimrock Ranch we knew it was right for us. Warm, breezy, and stunningly beautiful. We couldn’t ask for more.
We loved having our wedding party and guests gather around us for the vows and kiss. What better way to start our life together than within the community that had shaped us and that we would become a part of together as a married couple.
