This wedding on our blog today took place in the foothills of Tennessee at a gorgeous winery. With pretty pastel decor and elements that played to the bride and groom’s relationship perfectly, this wedding stole our hearts with its Southern charm! The adorable couple planned a perfect day for themselves and had Kelly Ginn Photography there to capture it all! Here are a few words from the precious bride:
“Before meeting my dashing now–husband, I dreaded the idea of planning a wedding because it seemed like “so much”. However, after realizing he was “the one”, it was all I could think about. I made a private Pinterest board, stalked “the knot” for vendor recommendations, and grabbed any wedding magazine I could get my hands on. It was like an insatiable desire to have my wedding day perfectly reflect us as a couple. I pretty much knew all the vendors I wanted before I was even engaged (creepy? maybe. dedicated? yes!). Being someone that “knows what she wants” (aka a nice way of saying “picky”), I knew I wouldn’t settle for something short of what I dreamed. So, I was VERY hands–on throughout the process, which can be hard when you are in school full time, doing an internship, working part–time, and trying to graduate– but I survived!
The venue appeared to be the hardest decision when planning our wedding, but after seeing Crown Winery in person we stopped the search. I dreamed of an outdoor wedding that didn’t look like it was in the middle of a city– which is exactly what we got choosing this gorgeous winery that is right outside Memphis. With such a beautiful backdrop, I knew I wouldn’t be tempted to go overboard with planning or excessive decorations, which fit perfectly with my casual outdoors wedding. I am a lover of all things vintage/antique, floral, lace, and pink and THAT is where my theme blossomed. I choose monochromatic pinks with splashes of gold (because pink and gold are gorgeous, especially together– HELLO!). I incorporated things we both loved like books, globes, clocks, mason jars, and cameras as much as possible. I didn’t want my wedding to be a cookie cutter wedding that looked like everyone else’s— I wanted it to be US: Alyssa and Josh.
During the ceremony I even swapped out a traditional unity candle or sand ceremony with nontraditional feet washing and communion ceremonies. I was intentional with everything I did and choose to include to have it mirror what was important to us. I think the biggest compliment I have received since my wedding was that it reflect our personalities so well! On my wedding day I vividly remember constantly saying “This is everything I wished it would be” and I think THAT is a true testament of having an amazing bridal party and group of vendors (…and maybe my crazy OCD tendencies!). However, in the end it was perfect because I was able to marry my soul mate and having my “dream wedding” was an added bonus. “
