Barcelona isn’t necessarily the first place to that comes to mind when considering a destination wedding, but for this couple it was. And for all of you reading this, it will be too! Alexandra & Mike’s intimate & moody botanical wedding is absolutely stunning. And the Barcelona atmosphere adds that much more romanticism. Their reception was set up more like an intimate dinner party between friends and family. From rich & moody red to pink floral arrangements, black tapered candles in tall gold candlesticks, and a delectable menu, it lacked nothing. We hope you enjoy all of the details as much as we do!
The bride shares her story here…
Mike and I have known each other since high school. I went to an all girls Catholic high school and he attended the all boys Catholic high school in Miami, FL. Although we never really hung out, we had tons of mutual friends. Twelve years after we graduated, we both started working at the same job, we shared an office space and instantly became best friends. He was the person I would share everything with, he made going to work an awesome experience.
After about two years, I found a new position and it was then, when we no longer worked together and saw each other, that we realized we were madly in love with one another. Soon after, we started dating and have been together ever since! Our first vacation was to Barcelona, Spain, where we had the best time ever! About a year after our trip we got engaged and decided Barcelona would be the best place to start our lives. We now share one beautiful baby boy, and two beautiful girls from my previous relationship.
We knew from the start we wanted a small and personal wedding. From the ceremony to the reception, everything we did was very personal and unique to us. We decided to write our own vows and read them during the reception instead of the ceremony. Our three kids were heavily involved in the ceremony, serving as the maid of honor, flower girl and ring boy. Both our daughters read prayers during the mass as well. Before dinner, Mike and I read our vows in front of all our guests.
Jessica at Happy Endings Barcelona helped us plan the perfect moody, dark, floral, romantic and botanical wedding. Everything was decadent and gorgeous. We wanted dark shades, with lots of candles and a romantic vibe. We wanted our guests to dine on the best food, which they did. Our cocktail hour was filled with incredible food, top shelf liquor, and great music. Dinner was equally as fantastic. Everything was exquisite.
This was the most magical day of our lives. Thank you IBT for featuring it!
