We can’t get over this proposal on our wedding blog today! Not only does this shoot evoke a beautiful proposal story, but it also incorporates gorgeous boho decor and a stunning eclectic setting in a Brooklyn greenhouse (succulents and cacti everywhere!). The affection and excitement that went in to planning this styled greenhouse proposal is so evident – just read how it all occurred from the stylist/doting friend, Lindsey Brunk, and your hearts will be fluttering too!
When my friend Clayton approached me about coordinating his proposal to Keeley, I literally jumped for joy. These two are so fun and love each other so much, not to mention they’re both gorgeous!! Keeley has modeled for styled shoots with me in the past, so we told her this was simply a boho styled shoot in Brooklyn. Little did she know that when she arrived at the Desert Room at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, her man would be waiting for her.
We set the scene for the proposal with a stunning vintage runner from Patina Vintage Rentals set up amongst unique cacti and desert flowers. Keeley was pampered with hair and makeup by the talented Laura Kaululaau (Keeley still thought that she was the model for a styled shoot) and dressed in a beautiful dress Clayton picked out, paired with jewelry from Austin designer Wild Air &Co. Once she arrived to the Botanical Gardens, Keeley was greeted with an incredibly vibrant bohemian bouquet crafted by Lindsay Rae Design and she walked to her groom-to-be. Clayton’s grandmother gave him her diamond for the ring, and he found the setting at Pippin Vintage Jewelry here in New York. After dropping to one knee and giving her the beautiful ring, he also presented Keeley with a journal he had started six months prior, chronicling his love for her and all the steps he took to make this day perfect. There were mementos from their relationship including tickets from their first date in Central Park and playbills from shows they’d seen together. He also included letters to her from both of their parents, grandparents, and several of her close friends. As Keeley was reading the letter from her parents, her mom slipped in behind her.Not only that, Clayton had also arranged for Keeley’s sister and best friend from college to be there for this special day!
The invitations created by Laurel Writes for our “styled shoot” were actually printed invitations for Clayton and Keeley’s very real surprise engagement party for later that evening. We also had a custom “Congrats” poster that Good South made for the couple to keep as a memento. All of these wonderful details were captured by the talented Becka Pilmore of Pill Photography.
