With a picnic blanket, big bouquet, and a couple of boho outfits, this cute couple set out for their cliffside engagement photos by the sea in Northern California. The shoot couldn’t have turned out more beautifully! Thanks to styling by Elise from Brannan Events & Design and photography by The Poffs, it’s totally dreamy and exactly what the nearly-weds wanted. Oh! And a picturesque sunset is just the cherry on top!
Lauren, the bride, shares…
When Miguel and I first started dating I would always ask him if we could go on adventures along the coast. Whether it was hiking the Marin Headlands or stopping to eat in Half Moon Bay and watching the waves, the ocean is my favorite place to go. When planning our engagement shoot, I knew I wanted it to be in a calming and comfortable place for the both of us so that we would be able to relax and have fun when shooting with our photographer and planner. I had found our location spot by searching Instagram and using the places tab to search beaches along Hwy 1. It was a hidden gem of a beach and was exactly what I had envisioned for our special location.
How he popped the question…
Last year for Christmas, we decided instead of giving gifts to each other we would purchase tickets to New York. I had never been, and Miguel’s Grandmother lives outside the city, and I had never met her either. We planned our trip for March (not really considering the weather – this plays a part in his proposal). Unbeknownst to me, while planning our trip, he was actually planning to propose. He had my ring made and ask my family for permission, and everyone managed to keep it a secret for three months.
March came and we boarded a red eye to New York. We landed and made our way into the city on a beautiful crisp 60 degree day, it was perfect. Even though we weren’t sure if it would snow while we were there, we did pack puffy jackets, boots, gloves, and hats just in case. Well, it was a good thing we did because Blizzard Stella graced us with her presence. We had rented a car to visit his Grandmother and had planned to stay a couple days with her – due to the blizzard we had to cut our visit short to get back into the city before they closed the roads.
Miguel told me we have to go on this hike to this waterfall before we tried to beat the storm. I thought he was nuts, but I bundled up and said okay. We went to Awosting Falls. He led me down to this beautiful frozen waterfall and creek where he proposed. I was in shock, and of course, said yes! We enjoyed the rest of our trip in the city, walking through Central Park while it snowed. It was everything I could have ever imagined.
Gorgeous!
