Black, White, and Gold Wedding Inspiration

Glam. But when we say glam don’t think your typical white wedding with chandeliers and roses and all other things that come to mind. This wedding inspiration shoot is instead the kind of glam you expect from Nylon, or some other modern fashion magazine. All the magic lies in the details – there are skulls on the table and gold and black cushion poufs! The hanging leafy flower arrangement and the black cookie conversation hearts accomplish the ever artsy look they were going for, and we love it all.

The inspiration for this shoot came when I met the lovely and talented interior designer, Peter Wilds. It was at this time I was also noticing how weddings seemed to fall into three categories, (diy vintage, elegant ballroom, or modern with a colour palette being the focus) even though the couples were so different. There had to be more?

Living in Gastown, I see so many well to-do stylish creatives, but there didn’t seem to be any weddings representing them. I wanted to show weddings are a celebration of the love between two people and their wedding should represent them. If you wanted a stylish wedding, you weren’t locked into having it in a ballroom, it could be in an artist’s studio. I wanted to think outside the box and Peter was just the person to help create a stylish modern wedding with an elegant twist I was craving to see. Together we brainstormed two characters: Sophia, a fashion designer and Hunter, a writer. From there, we spent countless hours thinking about what type of wedding they (a.k.a. ‘We’) would want.
