She’ll love the bold jewel tone color palette, the unique cascading floral arrangements, and the hand-painted backdrops. It feels modern, pretty, and oh-so-special. From the rad outfits to the decorative details that are a little bit Moroccan, it will transport you to a different—and super cool—time and place. Heather Lane Events teamed up with fabulous vendors in the Kansas City area to bring it to life and shares more about the inspiration behind the shower below. Enjoy!
Every woman deserves to feel pampered, glamorous and loved in the days and weeks leading to her wedding. This 70s inspired bridal shower will take you on a bridal party journey from a bridal shower during the day, straight to a girl’s night out. Join us on this 70s styled shoot for the modern day bride…
Inspiration was drawn from the colors, textures, and fashion of the 70s and curated into a shoot full of rich jewel tones, lush velvets, and copper accents designed and styled by Heather Lane Events and Heart + Soul Floral. We envisioned creating a vintage-retro yet glamorous vibe for the tablescape, lounge area, beauty vanity and favor display. Once we decided on the rich jewel tones as the color palette for the shoot, the tagline followed shortly after…“You’re a Gem,” and it matched the vision to perfection.
Because the aesthetics revolved around a nod to the past, it was essential to source a vintage rental company that could supply unique pieces that would exude the flair of years past but would also feel current for the modern day bride, which made Kansas Girl Vintage an excellent choice for rentals. 2016 Main in Kansas City offered a modern art gallery vibe but stayed true to the past with its original architectural details and vintage charm. An olive green velvet sofa, patterned rugs, Indian brass flatware, 70s colored glass goblets and a vintage beauty vanity were among the many carefully curated vintage treasures used throughout.
But what really set this shoot apart was the intricate and bold floral elements designed by Heather Blonigen of Heart + Soul Floral. She meticulously crafted every square inch of the space from floral bracelets, rings and chokers for the models to wear at the bridal shower to the dramatic, colorful floral garland oozing with texture cascading off the side of the table. Florals accented nearly every portion of the shoot right down to small arrangements adorned with gems created as party favors for each guest.
The gem theme carried on throughout the shoot with custom sugar cookies by Kate’s Cookies KC, gem-shaped invites by dePLUME Stationers, and even little gems attached to the place cards on the tablescape. The customization didn’t end there. We were lucky enough to have a talented painter create a custom backdrop for the selfie station. Themes like these can be elegant yet super fun, and adding a twist from the 70s made it truly unique. At the end of the day…you’re a gem, darling!
