If you’ve never been to Seattle, be prepared to push buy on a plane ticket asap, if you have been to Seattle, be prepared buy a plane ticket back, and if you live in Seattle, well, lucky you! Seattle is a magical city, home to so many of our favorite things – Starbucks, Nordstrom, Amazon, Sleepless in Seattle, Sur La Table and of course – Grey’s Anatomy. We have explored this amazing city many times over and picked some of our favorite spots to share with you, so that if you only had 24 hours in Seattle you could make the best of it! We’re rounding up some of the best things to see, do and eat while in the PNW capital (that’s Pacific Northwest for all your newbies). – stick to the itinerary below and we promise you won’t be disappointed!
Fuel up for the day at Lola’s, one of our favorite brunch spots in the city. We recommend enjoying one of their famous bloody mary’s (homemade with jalapeno infused vodka) to warm you on what’s likely to be a chilly morning, followed by one of the best Eggs Benedict dishes we’ve ever had. You can’t leave without an order of their famous Made to Order Donuts complete with homemade seasonal jams and vanilla mascarpones. Now, that’s what we call the best part of waking up.
After that, spend the day exploring all the city has to offer! Enjoy the majestic views from your choice of look out spot. Our faves include the top of the Space Needle, the Seattle Great Wheel and Kerry Park.
Next, take a walk to one of the oldest Farmer’s Market in the US – Pike’s Place Market AKA – home to the first Starbucks ever (be prepared for a line out the door!). After you get your picture under the pop culture landmark, be sure to visit the copper pig, watch the fish being thrown, and enjoy the multitude of fresh flowers and produce. As you work up a thirst and appetite, stop in at some of our favorite places – Rachel’s Ginger Beer, Beecher’s Cheese (must.have.mac.and.cheese.) the Daily Dozen Doughnut Company (yes, more donuts! We might have a problem…).
Next on our list is exploring the quirkier side of Seattle. You may have heard the Gum Wall underwent a much-needed cleaning, but it’s officially back open and ready for your bubblegum – make sure you’re prepared! You can also check out Seattle’s resident monster, the Freemont Troll.
By now we’re sure you’re ready for a little pick me up (AKA – time to stuff your face again)… run, don’t walk, to Biscuit Bitch where you can’t order a bad thing off the menu, enjoy a Fig and Pig from Lil Woody’s, taste test all 14 flavors at Molly Moon’s or go big with Husky Deli’s homemade pints of ice cream.
Last on our list is exploring the beautiful Puget sound. Seattle offers harbor tours throughout the day, so be sure to check out the schedule and buy your tickets ahead of time. You’ll learn about the different neighborhoods, industries and history of Seattle. For a land and sea tour check out Ride the Duck. And if you REALLY want to learn more about Seattle you can also do the Underground Tour around the original Seattle.
Top off the night at a dueling piano bar, a hidden speakeasy or head back to the Space Needle and enjoy dinner on their revolving restaurant with full views of the city.
With beautiful scenery, unlimited shopping and all you can eat specialty food and drinks you now know why Seattle is one of our all-time favorite destinations!
I would love to do the underground tour!
