Struggling with dry, itchy, and irritated skin? For everyone out there with sensitive skin, these discomforts are all too familiar. With thousands of different beauty products on the market, it can be a challenge to find ones with ingredients that will actually help your skin rather than set it off. When it comes to sensitive skin, the simpler the better. We’ve rounded up 11 of our favorite super-simple (and effective) beauty products for sensitive skin.
.01 – The Ordinary No Brainer Set
The Ordinary has become increasingly well-known as a super affordable, “no frills” skincare brand that specializes in single-ingredient-driven products. Sounds like a dream for sensitive skin types right? The Ordinary has raving reviews but the names of the products can be quite intimidating. The No Brainer Set is a great place to start exploring this brand! The set comes complete with a natural moisturizer, a hydrating retinoid serum, and a multi-technology “buffet” serum.
.02 – MyChelle Sun Shield Liquid SPF 50
If you’re looking to keep your skin looking healthy and young, the first thing your dermatologist will tell you is how important it is to apply sunscreen to your face. Many sunscreens are chemical-based, which can irritate the skin. The active ingredients in this MyChelle sunscreen are zinc oxide which act as gentle yet effective agents that protect your skin without breaking you out.
.03 – Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Cleansing Water
Makeup wipes aren’t only bad for the environment, they can also act as irritants for your sensitive skin. The harsh act of rubbing your skin with the wipe to remove makeup can lead to red, broken out skin. The surfactant chemical in this micellar cleansing water gently removes dirt and makeup without the need for rough scrubbing.
.04 – CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleaner
Many claim this to be the ultimate drugstore skincare product. Priced at just 14 dollars, this super gentle cleanser is a budget-friendly dream for those with sensitive skin. The cleanser contains hyaluronic acid which alleviates dry skin, as well as ceramides which help strengthen the skin’s barrier. Definitely worth a try!
.05 – Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant
Exfoliants can be treacherous for those with sensitive skin so it’s important to act with caution when using these products. This exfoliant cleans the oil trapped in your pores using salicylic acid. It’s important to only use this product no more than once a week as frequent exfoliation can cause damage and flare ups.
.06 – Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask
For those with dry and cracked lips, this is a must. Cheap chapsticks may offer temporary relief, but the results never last and you’ll find yourself constantly re-applying. The Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask goes on overnight and provides penetrating and long-lasting moisture. This one is definitely worth the extra $$.
.07 – Boscia Cactus Water Moisturizer
This gel moisturizer is absolutely perfect for the warm summer months. The gel-like formula of this product is super lightweight and glides nicely onto the skin. We love that this product is super fast-absorbing—it penetrates and hydrates rather than sitting on top of your skin. It’s also free of fragrance, sulfates, and parabens— yes please!
.08 – Fresh – Rose & Hyaluronic Acid Deep Hydration Toner
This toner by Fresh has a gentle, non-stripping formula that helps cleanse and clear your skin. It’s infused with real rose petals which controls excess oil as well as hyaluronic acid to keep your skin moisturized. Did we mention that we’re also IN LOVE with the packaging of this product?!
.09 – Glossier “Super Glow” Vitamin C Serum
With all of their products being hypoallergenic and dermatologist-approved, Glossier has become a favorite in the sensitive-skin community. Their lightweight vitamin C serum helps illuminate dull, tired skin while providing effective, natural anti-ageing benefits. Glossier nailed this serum by also incorporating nourishing ingredients such as Jojoba Oil, Shea Butter, and Sunflower Seed Oil.
.10 – Herbivore Jade De-Puffing Face Roller
Jade rolling is an effective beauty ritual that dates all the way back to ancient China. Made free of parabens, sulfates, and phthalates, this jade roller supports lymphatic drainage to reduce the appearance of puffiness, and wrinkles. Store this guy in the fridge and use with a few drops of hydrating facial oil for best results!
