Baby. Gold. Elephants. Only at a circus birthday party. This vintage masterpiece dubbed the “Cirque de Eloise” is THE CUTEST THING! Ok we’ll stop yelling, but it’s just that cute! Cookies, cakes, straws, and mustaches – yes, we said mustaches – in peaches and mints (like the colors not the foods) make up an adorable dessert bar! And a ticket booth and giant balloons turn the backyard into a full-on circus – well almost. If there were only those cotton-candy clad cookies we would still be amazed, but we’re glad they took the circus theme over-the-top. We’re pretty sure Eloise was overjoyed too and we bet that candy bar was her fave! Seriously, can we be a little girl again so this can be our party?? Please?
Samantha, from Dunne with Style, created a wonderland for her daughter.. and for all us there vicariously:
For my daughter Eloise’s 2nd birthday I chose a circus theme, as lets face it life is a bit like a circus when you’re 2, and no matter how young or old everyone has a little nostalgia about a day at the circus.
I wanted to take elements of the classic circus theme and give them a fresh, whimsy and ‘prettier’ twist, starting with the colour palette of peach and mint.
The ‘pretty-ing’ up started with the invitation and printable design, the talented Li-Ann from Ham & Pea dressed up the classic vintage elephant and giraffe with some frills to make them a little more feminine.
Desserts included a pair of ruffle cakes by Studio Cake topped with some golden elephants, pinwheels and poms by Dunne with Style. Guests were treated to a dessert box adorned with a Dunne with Style rosette and filled up with macarons, cupcakes and cotton candy toppers by Studio Cake and chocolate coated Oreos, coconut slice and cookies featuring our pretty circus animals from Sweet Table.
Guests filled up favour bags and miniature circus tent favour boxes with treats from the candy stand and went home laden with pinwheels, ribbon wands and gold circus animal figurines.
No circus is complete without a big bunch of balloons so I collaborated with Bianca from Blush Loves Mint on some custom designed balloon frills which included their signature tassels some honeycomb balls and Dunne with Style poms.
