This baby shower for a florist and mom to-be two times over is everything a shower for a baby girl should be. The pink & gold color palette and peony filled arrangements are something anyone would love, and it was just this mama’s style. Together, this mom, Michelle, and her hostess sister, Suzette, are the creative designers behind Blush & Vine (we love featuring these beautiful blooms!). Suzette oozed love into every element of this floral pink baby shower, which is so evident in the beautiful day it became!
Suzette shares, The baby shower was for Michelle, who is not only my business partner but she is also my sister. This shower has been a long time coming and there has been some heartbreak along the way so we wanted to make this day extra special for Michelle, Rodd, Caroline and our new little flower girl. Michelle’s daughter, Caroline, has been an only child for 12 years and has been eagerly anticipating the day that she would become a big sister. She was instrumental in picking out various details for the shower. She had the final say on the invitation suite and single handedly picked out a cake design which we geared much of the elements of the party around (gold and polka dots).
The main décor was to be floral, of course. This shower was for a florist, after all. Designing for a fellow floral designer could be stressful but thankfully Michelle and I share the same brain when it comes to flowers. Still, I wanted the flowers to be meaningful… something only she would pick up on. Coral charm peonies are her favorite flower And one of her favorite colors. The Juliet garden roses are special because of the name… Juliet has been in the running as a baby name and Peach roses denote Appreciation and Admiration (Two things I have in abundance for my sister). I wanted to add blue into the florals As that will be incorporated in the nursery. Plus I just really wanted these flowers to pop but still keep a english garden vibe true to our aesthetic.
Above all, I wanted this shower to be timeless and Girly. Michelle and Caroline both wore flower crowns as the guests of honor rightly should. Olga Galindo, who is a talented artist, created the fabric gold foil & polka dot “Bebe” sign above the mantel as well as the welcome sign at the front door. The mantel sign was such a great companion to the smilax and peony installation. We incorporated polka dots on the tables with the linens by Kate Spade and with the gold polka dot champagne glasses. Grapevine wreaths were spray painted gold and dressed with greenery, peonies and ribbon. These were a great accent above the favor table.
For the favors, we decided to pot miniature roses in gold spray painted terra cotta pots. The gift tags read “ Thank you for showering our little flower.” Cakes by Gina did an amazing job with the cake (I created the Bebe topper out of gold wire… had several failed attempts with that. Haha. But I insisted on doing it myself.) Bimini Sweets incorporated the watercolor florals from the invitation suite onto some tasty sugar cookies. Earlier in the day, Michelle was treated to hair & makeup by Butter Artistry in preparation for family photos before guests arrived. Britt Lais did a beautiful job on Michelle’s hair and makeup. And last but certainly not least, Kate Raydon, was on hand to capture the day through her Camera lens.
Thanks for the feature, IBT Girls!
