When it comes to planning a shower for a baby boy, picking a theme can be a little tough. This mama to-be wanted something unique and a bit wild, but still pretty for her as well as friends & family to enjoy. Megan, the aforementioned expecting mama and Festive Event Planning designer, made all her wishes come true with this modern and earthy safari baby shower. Instead of opting for traditional safari animal decor, she used hanging potted plants, tribal patterned linens, and palm fronds. The theme is also ever apparent in her awesome dessert display! The three tier cake is even adorned with a scene of the African savanna.
Megan says, As soon as I found out I was having a boy, I knew he would likely have the fun, free-spirited — and at times wild — personality of his dad, my husband Bobby. As such, I wanted to create an event that spoke to this wild spirit I plan to encourage him to explore, and while Pinterest was chock-full of “safari-themed” showers, I wanted to bring a more modern, bohemian feel to such a concept. To achieve this modern yet fun and laid-back feel, I opted for vineyard tables with benches, an unfussy tablescape. The table was styled with disposable wooden plates and earthly Himalayan salted candles amongst beautiful glassware and flatware from Otis & Pearl and simple, purposeful greenery and blooms.
A few of my favorite DIY elements were the baby photo table assignment board, the Washi-tape covered tealights which I gave to every guest to light as soon as I go into labor and the hanging plants which added an element of wildness to the backyard. And don’t even get me started on the safari-scape/mudcloth-adorned cake by Frost It Cakery — which tasted even better than it looked!
Those favors and cake topper are SO cute!
Love the linens! And of course the tropical printed cookies! This is too cute 🙂
