When it came to celebrating their second baby, this modern couple wanted to make it a family affair. “Taco-bout a bebe” inspired the theme, and this modern fiesta baby shower was born. The elegant coed shower featured pops of beautiful color and a table for the big brother and all his friends to have a celebration all their own. All that plus a “bebidas” bar with a cactus cocktail menu and plenty of lounges for guests to sit back and enjoy. Sounds like a fiesta to us!
The mama’s best friend, and host of the shower, Felicia Shelby shares…
Baby showers are a celebration of a soon to be new life and lets admit… a not last, but last for a while, celebration for the parents to be! So make it a day or night to remember! With this particular shower the host (me, Felicia) and the mother to-be (Alicia Laube, BFF) decided to plan an event that would take place in the evening. It was filled with delicious food and sophisticated cocktails and mocktails. While the adults mingle the children can participate in a party of their own.
Parents, Time & Alicia, have a little boy, Locke, who is more than thrilled to be a big brother, and wanted to make sure he had his own area filled with traditional fiesta decorations. This also entailed fun games, coloring books, goodies and yummy snacks.
In the adult area, we took the fiesta theme and put a sophisticated twist on it. We pulled key elements (guitar, florals, colors, throws) and made them the focal points of the party. Carefully selected items from Touched By Time were chosen, items that had a very Spanish feel. All the vendors selected were carefully chosen as well, each adding in a special touch. The photographer, as well, was chosen specifically because of her time spent in Mexico photographing everyday encounters. So, I knew she would be the perfect fit and know exactly the feel and look I was going for.
