This birthday bash on our baby blog today couldn’t be more perfect for the heat wave we’re experiencing here in SoCal! It’s ‘surf’s up‘ at the adorable boho surf first birthday party. Cassie, AKA The Coastal Cactus, designed and planned the party for her son and it couldn’t depict her family’s style any better! To carry out the theme, Cassie used plenty of oceanic inspired elements and decorated with palm leaves, hand dyed indigo linens, and macrame. She also served up piña coladas and surfboard shaped cookies, of course!
Cassie says, As my son’s first birthday approached, I knew I wanted to throw him (and me) a party inspired by his love of the ocean. With dad being an Aussie surfer and me, a shibori dyer, it came only natural to have a modern bohemian surf theme with influences of indigo throughout.
The backyard of our Venice Beach bungalow served as the perfect backdrop to create this tropical surf oasis. It was so special to incorporate one of a kind pieces I hand dyed for the party. Thanks to the most creative vendors, my vision came to life. I drew the designs for the surfboard cookies and cake as well as the boards on the invitations. Blogger, Rebekah Steen, of Goldfish Kiss then watercolored the design to produce a completely unique and personalized little piece of art that tied all aspects of the party together.
I hope one day my little man will be off surfing the world and look back at this party as his coolest party ever. A mum can dream right?!
If you love this theme as much as we do, you will be crazy about this indigo baby shower too!
