The definition of tradition is as follows: the transmission of customs or beliefs from generation to generation, or the fact of being passed on in this way. The beautiful thing of growing up is holding on to the traditions you valued as a child, & making new ones for your children. Most of us have spent way more time with family than ever before as we’ve been social distancing and WFH. Regardless of if we are constantly with family, or rarely see them, the holiday season marks a time of deepening those family relationships. What better way than to create new holiday traditions with your family? We compiled a list of 5 holiday traditions to try this month to commemorate the holiday season:
.01 – Baking, with a Twist

Have everyone list their favorite ingredient for baked goods. Once the list is compiled, create your own recipe featuring each person’s ingredient!
.02 – Hot Cocoa & Christmas Lights

To keep things COVID-friendly, support your local coffee shop (most have online ordering / curbside pickup) & take the family for a spin around the festive lit up neighborhoods!
.03 – Ornament Decorating

Have everyone decorate an ornament featuring the word they feel encapsulated their 2020 best. Do this each year nad watch the ornament quantity grow, & the evolution of each word change!
.04 – Zoom with the Extended Family

The odds are you don’t get to see most of your relatives every year, anyway. Either you visit your parents, or the in-laws and interchange each year. Instead of forgoing one set of relatives, put them all in a family zoom call to catch up over a cup of egg nog. We also think having a Netflix Party Christmas movie watch would be so sweet, too! This is a sweet tradition that can continue long past COVID.
.05 – Holiday Charcuterie Board

Similar to the baking session, have everyone in your family name their absolute must-have holiday treat. Then, compile the list into an Instagram-worthy festive board!
