This year I took on a less traditional and more glam approach to holiday decorating full of modern, chic, and feminine details. This was such a fun design project in my home and a blast teaming up with friends, A Charming Fête and Andrew Thomas Design. I began with a 10 foot flocked tree and decked it out with blush, rose gold and metallic ornaments and soft textured ribbons. We reorganized the furniture a bit and pulled in two beautiful white tufted love seats for a fresh look and a clean slate. Two pale blush club chairs flanked the tree and leopard hide pillows were added. The mirrored coffee table was styled to perfection with fashion books, a bundle of pink ranunculus and seasonal cocktails. The white built in bookcases were then decorated with a curated collection of holiday décor in muted metallic tones allowing the large, bold, abstract Minted artwork to shine.
The antique mirrored tile fireplace is the ultimate glam element in my home and pairs perfectly with the coffee table and end tables. Andrew created two stunning mantle floral pieces infusing coral peonies, blush roses, air plants and winter foliage to bring out a feminine color palette. Ivory faux fur stockings were the perfect final touch.
Custom acrylic wreaths displayed on the windows and the luxe marble herringbone hearth can be seen as you enter the arched doorway into the kitchen. Simple holiday garland with pepper berry was draped over the mantle. I found the soft pink floral artwork above the mantle for a steal at Home Goods. The bar cart was styled with festive décor and glassware including antique 1920’s blue glassware and plum tulips with white amaryllis. Andrew created a real winter wonderland with a white birch tree installation and branches “growing” through the crystal chandelier and onto the ceiling.
The kitchen tablescape was styled elegantly but simply with modern lucite ghost chairs, shearling throws, delicate gray metallic linen, white hemstitch napkins and pale pink plates. We set the table for a Christmas tea with vintage tea cups and a special teapot that Andrew had found in Paris. The 10 foot quartzite island was decorated with my collection of Christmas trees and we set up a “marshmallow world” corner with custom signage, pink marshmallows and fancy snowflake sugar cookies.
The chevron brick paver floor of the mudroom is one of my favorite design elements of the home. I love decorating the white built in cubbies and shelves for every season. Faux fur velvet pillows were a perfect wintry accent. Additionally, I added mini white snowberry wreaths to each of the wicker baskets for winter hat and mitten storage. I also displayed my favorite gift boxes to tie in the color palette. Bring on the holiday cheer!
