Rio 2016 is here! The opening ceremony of this summer’s olympics happened last night and now the sporting events are in full swing! Since this special season only comes around once every two years, it’s practically mandatory to hold a viewing party. And what kind of hosts would we be without signature olympic cocktails? Thankfully Minibar Delivery not only brings the alcohol straight to our door so that we can continue party prepping, but they also came up with these awesome recipes! Give your guests the choice of 5 color coded cocktails – one for each olympic ring – and celebrate in style! Here’s the lineup:
Yellow: The Golden Curls
4 oz brut Champagne, chilled (or dry prosecco or cava)
1 oz limoncello
½ oz club soda
Tiny splash of fresh lemon juice to taste
1 curled strip of lemon rind
In a champagne flute place the curled lemon rind vertically in the glass. Add limoncello, club soda and lemon juice and top with cold champagne.
Red: Raspberry Basil Bourbon Spritzers
5 raspberries
1 tbsp chopped basil
½ oz simple syrup
2 oz bourbon
¼ oz lime juice
3 oz champagne
In a cocktail shaker muddle simple syrup, raspberries and basil. Fill with ice and bourbon, then stir. Strain into rocks glass over ice. Top with champagne and garnish with basil and raspberries.
Black: Black Sangria
1 bottle Apothic Dark
2 cups blackberries
4 black plums, sliced
2 cups black grapes
½ cup sparkling water
Add ingredients together in large pitcher. Let sit 1-2 hours in fridge before serving.
Blue:The Blue Mule
½ oz fresh lime juice
3 oz vodka
1 oz blue curaçao
3 oz ginger beer
8 blueberries dusted with sugar
1 lime slice
1 rosemary sprig
Crushed ice
In a copper mug pour in liquids and then fill with crushed ice. Top with berries and garnish with lime and rosemary.
Green: Cucumber Cooler
6 slices cucumber
3 mint sprigs
½ oz St–Germain
2 oz vodka
½ oz simple syrup
1 oz fresh lime juice
1-2 oz club soda
In a cocktail shaker muddle cucumber, mint, simple syrup and lime juice. Add ice, vodka and St–Germain. Shake, strain and serve in glass filled with ice and a splash of club soda. Garnish with mint sprig or a cucumber wheel.
