When it comes to fall produce, pumpkins and apples tend to steal the show, so today we want to highlight one of our favorite in-season fruits – figs! Figs are so versatile, and can be used in everything from pizzas and pastas to desserts. Most people associate figs with Fig Newtons, but we’re here to share their deliciousness goes way beyond store bought cookies. Here are 6 of our favorite fig recipes perfect for fall! Enjoy them around the campfire, or on a cozy fall picnic!

One of the tastiest ways to enjoy figs is on top of pizza. Their sweetness perfectly compliments the savory flavor found in foods like prosciutto and cheese. Our go two fall pizza is this Grilled Tomato Fig and Prosciutto Pizza. Yum!

For an appetizer that pleases both the tastebuds and the eyes, we love these Figs Stuffed with Goat Cheese. It’s, again, that perfect combination of sweet and savory. Different variations of this recipe call for regular honey drizzled on top, or even wrapping the stuffed figs in bacon! There’s really no way to go wrong.

While the savory/sweet combo of figs is our favorite, we do love a purely sweet fig treat too. For something a little lighter, we indulge in this Roasted Fig and Walnut Parfait. Roasting figs caramelizes them and brings out a lot a sweetness, which makes for a perfect pairing with crunchy walnuts and creamy yogurt! We’ve tried this combo with regular, greek, and coconut yogurt and all are equally delicious.

We can’t have a post full of fig recipes and not include one to make your very own homemade Fig Newtons. This childhood classic is a relatively simple recipe – the key to keeping the cookies soft and chewy is to steam them after baking! And if you’re looking for a healthier and/or gluten free option, you won’t be disappointed with this one.
