A statement making striped wall, perfectly styled bookshelf, and champagne had us falling for this office at first glance. Roberta, the creative behind The Romanticist Studios, dreamt up the space after founding the design consultant company, and seeing a need for an inspiring area to create – what else?! The bright whites and natural woods she used to decorate practically beg us to tour the studio. So, here goes!
Roberta shares, I am so excited to share a little corner of my home. The studio was the most fun project I designed so far and despite that it is always evolving, the brand aesthetic is reflected in the room in every little corner. This airy, organic and a little girly space grew organically as I combined pieces from my home (mostly from Denmark where I lived for 2 years) and weekend trips to my favorite home stores.
It all started when I realized I needed a separate space to create my designs. Looking at the laundry pile and dishes wasn’t really cutting for me so I converted one of the bedrooms into the workspace. I wanted a little of everything that truly inspires me in there…Scandinavian clean lines, modern stripes and that sweet southern flair that I love!
White vases, Table lamp, Black Wall Decal, Desks, Desk Accessories, Macarons
Large paper clips, Portfolio, Folders, Sticky Notes, Gold Journal, Pinboard, Tags, Shelves
I really loved the furniture I already had around the house, like the white shelves from Denmark and a white console from Ikea (converted into a laptop desk). In the end I needed very little… added an unfinished wood desk also from Ikea (about $100, score!) and a few rugs and pillows sourced all over (at one point the Home Goods cashier knew me by name!).
The little reading nook and the green chair were the result of one of those shopping sprees. I just fell in love with that piece and kind of made it work in the space, even though the color wasn’t exactly a fit. Sometimes you just have to go with your gut and add a little something that catches your eye, right?!
My creative process is a little bit chaotic (creative chaos I hope) so I keep a million sticky notes, pins, clipboards, pencils and sketch books all over the place! Ribbons are my staples for every board or picture I take so I also keep them around for a quick setup when inspiration hits.
The real mess is inside the closet. Paint, paper, extra office supplies, old projects and magazine cutouts are all tucked away so I don’t feel like organizing and reorganizing it all the time…great organizational tip right here!
The last touch in the office was the champagne table. Mimosas and coffee are the true fuel of my business and they come out every time I meet with other creatives or clients. I had to have them handy!
now this is what an office should look like! amazing!
I need that office chair in the last picture! It’s amazing!
That desk is sooo amazing! I’ve seen it in white, but I love the wood!
Love all of the white! So pretty!
love the stripe wall… is it a decal or paint??
Thanks Ariana! We agree <3
And it has the cutest pillows!
The wood adds such a new dimension to the already white room!
It’s incredible! Thanks Carrie!
We think it’s paint but aren’t 100%! Let us get back to ya on that! 🙂
So cute!
Hi Nina!! Those are decal stripes and you apply them one by one 🙂 If I would do it again I would probably use just black paint!
xo!
Thanks Rachel!! xo
Thanks Carrie! I love how the white makes me focus on the projects and not the surroundings. xo
Hi Olivia! I really wanted a desk that reflected the ‘artist’ in me…This one from Ikea can be used tilted like a drawing table but still looks adorable. xo
I feel like I buy a chair every time I go to HomeGoods…they have adorable stuff you just have to keep checking every now and then! xo
Aww thanks Ariana! I love the space as well and it is such a fun place to add, edit and rearrange my little things…absolutely worth having it! xoxo
Love the lip on the copper mug/vase. Excellent styling of flowers.
Thanks Meg! Fresh flowers from Whole Foods or Trader Joes will make any room look super special!
Xo
Agreed! XO.
