This beautiful white and yellow Southern California beach wedding is from one of my fellow Delta Gamma sisters! I saw it and was blown away by the gorgeousness. Shot by Paula and Mike of Paula Luna Photography, this wedding is a true California Beach wedding done right. I love the mixed florals and her amazing Romona Keveza one strapped dress. I die! Here is what the bride had to say about her big day:
Originally I wanted a destination wedding – something away from home and a different scene than we have every day, but then I saw the Scripps Forum in La Jolla and I was convinced it was the perfect place for our wedding. I grew up in La Jolla, loving the beach and the ocean, and my fiance is a surfer so having a wedding right on the ocean just felt perfect!
Once we had picked the venue, the ocean scenery and modern architecture really inspired the feel and decor of the day. I wanted it all to feel easy and comfortable but also interesting, unexpected and sophisticated.
I loved having the clean white fabric inside, with pops of color just in the centerpieces and on the runners on the head table and high balls outside. My mom and I went to fabric stores and picked out printed, rather than solid fabric for the runners, which was one of my favorite touches. With all the details, I wanted the wedding to feel personal and say a little about ourselves and add some personality. We had a tray of hankies for the ceremony at the church, because everyone knows im a crier. The postcards for the guest book were scenes or places or sayings that reminded me of my fiance.
The day couldn’t have been more perfect for us, but “behind the scenes” there were a few funny things that happened. I picked out a vintage Rolls Royce car to drive my fiance and I to the reception after the ceremony, and when we came out to get in it, there was a different car! Turns out the one we picked broke down that morning, so they sent another car. I guess that’s why they call it vintage? Also, our cake melted (it was a small two person cake), so we fed each other macaroons instead
